McKenzie Black
I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute (HEMI) at the Johns Hopkins University. My efforts supports the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) at Fort Belvoir.
I received my PhD in Mathematics at the University of South Carolina (UofSC) in 2024 under the supervision of Changhui Tan. Prior to graduate school, I received a Bachelors of Science from Virginia Tech in Mathematics.
I am interested in the analysis of Partial Differential Equations (PDE) specifically concerning nonlinear partial differential equations, and alignment models. My research was recently partially supported by the UofSC SPARC grant.
Together with Thomas Hamori and Chunyan Li, I was co-organizing the Applied and Computational Mathematics (ACM) Student Seminar, a biweekly student run seminar series at UofSC.
I was a peer mentor under Dr. Sean Yee through the Peer Mentor Program at UofSC for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Lastly, I was a Student Representative for the Mathematics Department Graduate Advisory Council.
